Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 October 2026
Compton Golf (Edwin Compton, Mpumalanga, South Africa) makes Golf Swing Recorder and Golf Swing Drills for iPhone and iPad, and Golf Swing Studio for Mac (together, "the apps"). This policy explains what information the apps handle, where it is stored, and what choices you have.
In short: your swing videos stay on your device and in your own iCloud. We do not receive, view or store them.
Your swing videos
Videos you record or import are saved on your device. If iCloud is turned on, they may also sync through your own private iCloud account, which is run by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy.
Compton Golf has no access to your private iCloud data. We do not upload your videos to our own servers, and we do not sell or share them.
Swing analysis happens on your device
Features such as body pose detection, club detection and swing phase analysis run entirely on your device using Apple's built-in frameworks. The resulting pose and motion data is not sent to us or anyone else, and is not used to identify you.
Permissions the apps ask for
The apps only ask for access they need, and you can change these at any time in your device's Settings.
-
Camera: to record your swing.
-
Microphone: to record sound with your videos, if you choose.
-
Photo Library: to import existing videos and save recordings.
Purchases and third-party services
We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking tools. The apps rely on two outside services:
-
Apple processes App Store purchases, iCloud storage and crash reports you choose to share. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
-
RevenueCat manages subscriptions and in-app purchases. It receives an anonymous app user ID, your purchase history, and basic device information such as device type, OS version and IP address. It does not receive your videos. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
We never receive your payment card details.
Children and junior golfers
The apps are intended for use by adults, including players, coaches and parents. Coaches often film junior golfers. If you record anyone under 18, you are responsible for getting consent from their parent or guardian first.
Those videos are stored only on your device and in your iCloud, as described above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Deleting your data and your rights
You control your data. Delete videos inside the app, and remove iCloud data under Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage. Deleting an app removes its data from that device.
Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), and similar laws such as the GDPR, you can ask what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Contact us using the details below. You can also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa).
Apple and RevenueCat may store information on servers outside South Africa. Both are bound by their own privacy and data protection commitments.
Security
Your videos are protected by your device's security and Apple's iCloud encryption. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but keeping data on your device and in your own iCloud limits who can reach it.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will post the new version here and change the "Last updated" date at the top.
